Cake 101

Going to Class

Making cakes has been something that I have always liked to do but have not been that great at. It’s probably because I have never taken myself seriously…until now.

I am preparing myself by researching and practicing what I see others do however; I have also enrolled myself in a baking class at a local cake and supply store. I'm looking forward to learning new skills so that I may document and share in a way others can learn as well.

So far I have tried to work with basic vanilla recipe's that I have found on-line but I haven't found one that really works for me so I have been baking out of a box while focusing on decorating my cakes. For decorating, I have been using vanilla butter cream and marshmallow fondant.

Here's what I have accomplished so far...

I don't have any formal training as of yet but I have a great imagination and I'm determined to learn, grow and share as I go along. I'm looking forward to learning some basic skills that I skipped out on to begin working with the fondant.

Although I will be starting from square one I know I will be establishing a good foundation for all my future cakes.
